Yoga & Qi Gong
Practicing Yoga and Qi Gong have quite simply been life changing for me. I find these practices invaluable and weave them into my work whenever appropriate. These practices build and circulate life force, qi, or prana. I believe they are essential to restoring health and vitality on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual. When the life force or qi is flowing, chronic patterns manifesting on the emotional level such as depression or anxiety, or as pain or tension in the physical body naturally begin to let go. These practices facilitate integration of body and mind, and are essential in creating safety and resourcefulness when embarking on the journey of healing.
The benefits of practicing Yoga and Qi Gong are numerous. They help to balance the nervous system, endocrine system, lymph, metabolism; unwind stress, tension, and anxiety; balance emotions, and result in greater flexibility and increased energy.
Body Mind Integration
The body and mind function as a unified whole. When change is effected on the level of the body, it naturally reflects in the mind and emotions. The perceived split between the body and mind is predominant in our culture. Healing this split is a central part of my orientation to therapeutic work.
Yoga and Qi Gong help to create positive change because they are mind body integrative practices. Greater integration leads to greater relaxation, resourcefulness, and connection to self and wholeness. These practices guide the body/mind into a state that is naturally conducive to healing. Insight, wisdom, and deeper connection to self can then organically arise.
